Project Participants Delivered a Lecture at the University of Fribourg
On October 30, 2025, project participants Professor Béla Kapossy and Dr. Anastasiia Shevchenko (University of Lausanne) delivered a lecture at the University of Fribourg, within the open lecture series on Ukrainian-Swiss historical relations in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Their presentation, “Mykhailo Drahomanov: Switzerland on the Ukrainian Intellectual Map of Europe,” highlighted the importance of Swiss-Ukrainian intellectual connections and engaged students and faculty in a fruitful discussion. The lecture was held in a bilingual format – English and French – which allowed for broader engagement and fostered intercultural dialogue.
The event was organized by the Department of Contemporary History (Histoire contemporaine – Zeitgeschichte (Unifr)) and supported by the Fondation Ceffa pour l’étude de l’histoire Suisse.
This lecture exemplifies the project’s mission to foster international collaboration, promote Ukrainian intellectual heritage, and strengthen academic ties between Switzerland and Ukraine.
